A hands-on botanical learning experience, facilitated by local horticulture experts in an immersive environment that fuels free-thought and creativity in young minds.
Horticulture Heroes is a youth-focused botanical education program offered by Garden Social for children ages 5 through 13, with an emphasis on getting children hands-on in a professional gardening space that fosters creativity, teaches the basics of urban agriculture, and encourages the development of critical life skills, including teamwork, problem solving and environmental awareness.
During Horticulture Heroes program sessions, attending children will be guided through curriculum-based learning activities throughout the garden-space, such as germinating seeds, mixing soil, composting organic matter and planting vegetables.
Each session includes unique opportunities for children to freely select which stations they may want to engage with, as well as structured group activities, including coloring, crafting, painting and reading together in story-time – uniquely blending literacy and artistic expression with outdoor sustainable horticulture.

Support the cause!
Proceeds from the Horticulture Heroes program are directed toward sustaining the educational garden, as well as providing the local community with free educational services and resources. Children enrolled in this class will be provided an opportunity to plant low-water-use tree seeds, which are planted for free throughout the community.
